MY STORY & PHILOSOPHY
My name is Danielle, and I am the potter behind Tumbleweed Pottery. I started learning pottery in 2012 during graduate school, at the Firehouse Art Center in Norman, Oklahoma. I took a break from pottery between 2013 and 2018, and have recently gotten back into pottery.
The name "Tumbleweed Pottery" came from me uprooting myself to move to northern Wisconsin with my husband three years ago. The tumbleweed plant is known for uprooting itself, and dispersing its seeds when it finds favorable conditions. (That's how I feel about the Northwoods!)
I work out of my own home studio, and a communal studio in northern Wisconsin. I am deeply inspired by Frankoma Pottery, and all pottery that is functional, yet aesthetically pleasing. I never want to create something that is going to languish on a shelf unused. I believe pottery deserves to be well loved.
Aside from my love of pottery, I am also passionate about my full-time teaching job as a history teacher.
